Here, you will make an impact by:Preparing environmental samples using various sample preparation/extraction techniquesAnalyzing environmental samples using Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC) methodsUsing statistical data analysis methods to evaluate analytical test dataImplementing and evaluating procedures to improve sample preparation and analysis efficiency and productivityPreparing detailed laboratory reports, data sheets, and other documentation in accordance to the Global Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Laboratory’s Quality System and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) processesYour Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution. Experience in advanced chromatography techniques including one or more of the following: Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), Liquid Chromatography-Ion Chromatography (LC-IC), and/or Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC) in a public, government or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Possess a Master’s or Ph.D. degree (completed and verified prior to start) in a science discipline from an accredited institution Two (2) years of experience performing Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis in a private, public, government or military environmentExperience performing LC-MS/MS analysis in a U.S. EPA GLP compliant and/or ISO/IEC 17025 accredited environmental testing laboratory.Strong analytical chemistry knowledge and proficiency with Agilent HPLC and/or AB Sciex MS/MS instrumentation/software.Experience with Metrohm Ion Chromatography equipmentExperience in test method development and validationsPrior laboratory experience with ISO 17025 accreditationPrior experience working with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordinglyStrong written and verbal communication skills, excellent documentation skills, ability to work independently to complete projects, as well as work with cross-functional teams.Microsoft Office proficientWork Location: On Site in Cordova, ILTravel: May include up to 10% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
