The successful candidate will work in a dynamic team environment, perform preventive, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance proficiently on a variety of innovative manufacturing machines, and will be challenged to apply knowledge and skills to achieve high personal and group performance working with a world-class team. Safe, high-quality diagnostics and repair are expected, and your creative and innovative improvement solutions are equally sought out. This role will appeal to millwrights, maintenance technicians, instrumentation technologists, or robotics technicians. New graduates are welcomed to apply.*Successful security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration program is a mandatory pre-requirement for this position at this location. Please note the following are some (but not all) of the listed requirements for Controlled Goods Clearance:Must be a Canadian citizen normally residing in Canada, or must be a Permanent Resident normally residing in CanadaMust have valid and current identification (i.e.: driver’s license, passport, birth certificate)Must be able to provide a residential address and employment history of the past 5 yearsIf applicable, living outside of Canada during the past five years will require an international criminal name check The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs a Maintenance Technologist you will develop and support custom 3M manufacturing execution systems in an end-to-end automated manufacturing process. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Perform preventative, corrective, and diagnostic maintenanceRead and interpret schematics and drawings12-hour rotating shift workAssist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery and conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working conditionSupport senior technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and perform basic repairs under supervision to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiencyAssist in the installation and setup of new equipment and machinery and support the implementation of upgrades and modifications to existing equipmentMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and equipment history and assist in preparing maintenance reports and documentation as requiredFollow safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities and participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environmentWork closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to address maintenance-related issues and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure alignment on maintenance tasks and prioritiesIdentify and suggest opportunities for process improvements in maintenance operations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects to enhance overall plant performanceSeek guidance and mentorship from senior maintenance staff to enhance learning and professional growthAssist in managing spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical componentsRespond to basic emergency maintenance requests and breakdowns under supervision and assist in developing and implementing contingency plans to address potential equipment failuresYour Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Completion of Technologist or Technician diploma (completed and verified prior to start)​OR 309A/433A/442A certificationAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:2-3 years of manufacturing experience in a technical support role1 year of electro mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics experienceGood mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with little supervision in a team-oriented environmentExperienced in PLC controllers and process instrumentation and automationWork location: Brockville, ON Canada12-hour rotating shifts Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: Is not authorized.3M Canada welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
