Position Summary

Polar Tankers, a ConocoPhillips subsidiary, operates five Endeavour-class tankers: Polar Endeavour, Polar Resolution, Polar Discovery, Polar Adventure, and Polar Enterprise. These vessels transport vital North Slope production from Valdez, Alaska, to refineries. As 3rd Assistant Engineer, you'll report to the Chief Engineer and 1st Assistant, focusing on diesel-powered generators, air compressors, purifiers, and all electrical systems. This safety-sensitive role demands vigilance, technical prowess, and readiness for 12-hour shifts plus 24/7 on-call duties.

What You Will Do

  • Routinely maintaining generators, electric motors, air compressors, L.O. purifiers, and lube oil systems.
  • Handling all electrical work, including insulation resistance testing (megger testing).
  • Conducting rounds to check pumps and machinery, monitoring from the engine control room.
  • Collecting monthly lube oil samples and working independently, aloft, or in emergencies.
  • Participating in drills, enforcing rules, procedures, regulations, and pollution prevention.
  • Climbing ladders up to 200 feet, pushing/pulling 200 lbs, and lifting 100 lbs floor-to-shoulder.

Expect extended absences from home (over two months) and a demanding schedule: 12 hours/day max, with 24-hour on-call availability.
