Position Summary

As 3rd Mate, you'll work under the Master and Chief Mate aboard state-of-the-art tankers. Expect a demanding 12-hour shift schedule (two 4-hour watches plus 4 hours work), capped at 15 hours/day or 36 hours/3 days. This safety-sensitive role demands proficiency in navigation, cargo systems, deck machinery, and watchkeeping. You'll participate in drills, enforce regulations, and prevent pollution while overseeing Able Bodied Seamen (ABs).

What You Will Do

Core Navigation and Safety Duties

• Navigate the vessel safely during watch periods.
• Maintain and document safety equipment accuracy and completion.
• Assist the Master in organizing and conducting the vessel's safety program.

Cargo and Operations Responsibilities

• Stand independent watch in the cargo control room.
• Assist in all segments of cargo handling and operations.
• Monitor deck and pump room for spills/leaks with hourly rounds during cargo watch.

Team Leadership and Compliance

• Oversee ABs and enforce rules, procedures, regulations, and pollution prevention.
• Participate in all drills and emergency responses.

Basic/Required Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work full-time in the U.S. without sponsorship.
