As 3rd Mate, you'll work under the Master and Chief Mate aboard state-of-the-art tankers. Expect a demanding 12-hour shift schedule (two 4-hour watches plus 4 hours work), capped at 15 hours/day or 36 hours/3 days. This safety-sensitive role demands proficiency in navigation, cargo systems, deck machinery, and watchkeeping. You'll participate in drills, enforce regulations, and prevent pollution while overseeing Able Bodied Seamen (ABs).
Be prepared for extended voyages exceeding two months, physical demands like pushing/pulling 200 lbs, lifting 100 lbs floor-to-shoulder, and climbing ladders/stairs. Relocation is not available; based in Houston, Texas.
