Job Description

Google | Singapore. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or equivalent practical experience. 3 years of experience in Civil, Structural or Site Engineering. Experience in implementing civil or structural engineering principles (e.g., grading and drainage, hydraulic modeling, sediment control, erosion control, or soil migration). Experience with standard structural engineering techniques, and procedures. Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, SAP2000) and CAD/Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit). The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). In this role, you will design and develop products, develop and review structural design calculations, project scopes and schedule for structural work, produce structural specifications, design basis and construction drawings. You will be knowledgeable in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System, Mathcad, spreadsheet or a related structural design software. You will provide structural engineering and technical oversight of new modular data center designs, support program planning and program strategies. You will work on program structural drawing design development and review and development of program data center structural plans including new modular equipment and product designs, large structures, etc. You will support improvements existing structural program design standards and support development of program products.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering)
  • Civil, Structural or Site Engineering (experience, 3 years)
  • Master's degree (degree in Chartered engineering, Civil engineering, Structural engineering)
  • Industrial facility and data center design and construction (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and updating internal Google requirements and specifications for data center infrastructure.
  • Review and assist in the evaluation of data center designs, ensuring technical compliance and adherence to Google's standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc) to ensure a coordinated and integrated design.
  • Conduct reviews of detailed design documents for data center buildings and equipment enclosures, ensuring accuracy, compliance with requirements, and proposing alternatives for optimal performance.
  • Design and develop products, develop and review structural design calculations, project scopes and schedule for structural work.
  • Produce structural specifications, design basis and construction drawings.
  • Provide structural engineering and technical oversight of new modular data center designs.
  • Support program planning and program strategies.
  • Work on program structural drawing design development and review and development of program data center structural plans including new modular equipment and product designs, large structures, etc.
  • Support improvements to existing structural program design standards and support development of program products.
