The Core Data Technical Writing team (Core Data TW) is fully integrated into the Core Data product management team. Our mission is to educate, making Google's data solutions and infrastructure easier to use. In this role, you will work directly with development teams in a cross-functional, distributed environment. You will need a technical background that enables you to work effectively with software development engineers, product managers, and program managers. In addition, you will need excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical publications. Finally, you'll need an interest in developing, using, and describing AI tools that accelerate developer workflows and technical writing itself. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. Responsibilities
Design, organize, and write technical content for internal developer audiences, with a focus on onboarding, use cases, and concepts.
Use, document, and assist in developing AI tooling for technical writing and Core Data developer workflows.
Manage documentation projects and prioritize requests while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrate technical writing and leadership through content reviews, including proofreading, editing, coaching, and providing constructive feedback.
Organize existing documentation, identify documentation gaps, and lead new projects.
Define documentation requirements with teams, and work with engineers to create and update documentation sets.
Edit, clarify, and enhance documents written by engineers and others.
Interest in learning and explaining new technologies, especially in emerging AI technologies and the associated big data landscape.
Help others improve their writing skills through one-on-one consultations and regular office hours.
