Job Description

Meta is seeking a Connectivity Engineer to join the Design Engineering and Construction (DEC) team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our services are delivered, and our rapidly scaling infrastructure operates. The team lights up Meta’s global data centers, delivering the physical infrastructure that connects the world to the videos, feeds, and other information stored on Meta’s server banks. The DEC Connectivity Engineer will provide site level support to ensure DEC telecommunication projects are being executed on schedule, within budget and at the level of quality specified. Connectivity Engineer will be the key point of contact for managing the full project life-cycle including project kick-off all the way through production turnover into operations. DEC Connectivity Engineer is highly collaborative with cross-functional partners at the Data Center Headquarters, our on-site contractor, and other data centers globally. Responsibilities include project planning and control, creating and maintaining site project and program scope, schedules and milestones; working closely with site project management team throughout the project lifecycle; reviewing ongoing projects for efficiencies in schedule, budget, and opportunities; documenting data points for field coordination; supporting development of project management best practices; coordinating lessons learned with partners; supporting forecasting and budget efforts; sharing project status with partners; establishing milestones for equipment purchase; assisting with contractor selection for structured cabling; reporting progress and risks; working with installation partners to track milestones; conducting pre-project planning and handoffs; identifying and responding to project risks; tracking change order requests; managing connectivity activities in construction; setting expectations with site team; building relationships with installation partners; fostering safe working environment; performing physical inspections for quality assurance; validating installs, test reports, and compliance; leading technical field aspects including product evaluation, design, and installation; developing solutions to in-field issues; partnering with design teams for reviews; liaising with construction partners for deliverables; coordinating with logistics for materials flow; communicating progress and risks; ensuring vendor safety adherence; leading safety-first experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and report on site project and program scope, schedules and milestones

  • Assist with the selection and review of contractors for structured cabling work
  • Report progress and risks on site projects to key stakeholders
  • Work with installation partners to establish and track milestones
  • Conduct pre-project planning, project handoffs, and ensure design delivery and verification
  • Identify and respond to project risks and high-priority issues
  • Track and manage project change order requests
  • Responsible for all connectivity activities within construction projects on site
  • Set and communicate clear expectations with site team and build relationships with installation partners
  • Foster a safe, collaborative working environment
  • Perform physical inspections to ensure vendor work meets quality standards
  • Validate physical installs, test reports, build accuracy, material and local code compliance
  • Technical lead for industry and Meta standards, lead product evaluation, design, and installation methods
  • Develop solutions to in-field scope-gap or clash issues
  • Partner with DEC design and engineering teams for design reviews, BOM reviews, and as-built validations
  • Liaise with construction partners to ensure deliverables are met during new builds and retrofits
  • Coordinate with logistics partners, vendors, and suppliers for smooth materials flow
  • Communicate progress, project risks and initiatives to key stakeholders
  • Ensure vendors adhere to safety obligations and DEC safety best practices
  • Lead a 'safety first' experience while working with others
