Summary
The SGMW Quality Engineer role is essential to ensuring the quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction of SGMW vehicles in Colombia. This position leads product quality initiatives, manages warranty incidents, supports field actions, and ensures vehicles are fully market-ready. Filling this role will strengthen our ability to resolve quality issues efficiently, reduce warranty costs, and maintain the high standards expected by our customers in Colombia.

Job Description

The Product Quality Engineer will be responsible for Product Development Quality and Continuous Improvement activities for SGMW imported ICE vehicles across several South American markets.

Key Responsibilities (What you will do)

  • Serve as the Voice of Quality to regional and global program execution teams.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with teams in South America and China.

  • Assess and ensure all quality targets and program deliverables are met to maximize customer satisfaction and reduce warranty costs.

  • Monitor product performance and escalate risks to leadership when needed.

  • Manage warranty incidents, support field actions, and participate in vehicle readiness evaluations.

  • Analyze data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.

  • Support the launch readiness of products for the Colombian market and other South American countries.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Project Management, Resource Management , or Automotive Mechanical Engineering .

  • Fluent English (spoken and written, 100%) . Portuguese is a plus.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive industry or related sectors (auto parts, dealerships, suppliers, etc.).

  • Strong command of problem-solving tools and statistical methods .

  • Knowledge in data analytics and AI-based tools .

  • Solid understanding of products, market trends, quality processes, manufacturing , and product development cycles .

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work effectively across functions, regions, and cultures.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and workload management abilities.

  • Creativity and innovation mindset.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Previous experience working with Chinese OEMs or global automotive projects.

  • Experience managing warranty processes or customer satisfaction improvements.

  • Advanced knowledge of field actions, market quality performance, and issue resolution cycles.

  • Familiarity with SGMW products or similar vehicle platforms.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
