THE ASSIGNMENT
The Master Scheduling team is responsible for developing and maintaining a balanced production plan for global future sales. This plan must optimize available capacity, inventory, and service levels (orders) across a 24-month horizon.
Certain products require an additional ‘finishing’ step at a different location after manufacturing. Currently, this part of the production plan is generated using basic tools. We are looking for a future-proof, systematic solution for this process.

Your role will include:

• Analyzing current processes and gathering requirements for a digital solution.
• Researching potential improvement options.
• Designing a concept based on one of these options, testing it with various datasets, and verifying the results.
• Implementing the solution by documenting it and providing training to end-users.

Expected deliverables:

• An improved and automated system that generates planning based on orders, inventory, and demand.
• Recommendations to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the planning process.
• Documentation and training materials for end-users.

Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python is preferred, along with an understanding of logistics processes and supply chain management.

You will have the flexibility to tailor the assignment to your academic requirements. We provide regular guidance and feedback from an experienced mentor, access to necessary software and tools, and support in gathering relevant data and information.

PROFILE OF THE STUDENT WE SEEK
You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and looking to complete a graduation project or master’s thesis. Ideally, you bring:

• Knowledge of operations research, statistics, optimization, and data management.
• Familiarity with MS Office 365 PowerSuite applications.
• Understanding of Python or Java.
• Strong attention to detail while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, as you will collaborate with colleagues from the Netherlands and various other nationalities.
