Job Description

Sales Leadership & StrategyPrimary objective is to meet or exceed assigned sales goals defined in terms of units and/or sales dollars consistent with the approved business operating plans. Additionally, the National Sales Director will successfully oversee expenditures at national level required to meet all fiscal responsibilities pertaining to the Retina Business.Direct the sales strategy, planning, and execution for field-based team by driving agreed upon sales targets and long-term goals and objectives. Continue to position AbbVie as a market leader and solution-provider across the stakeholder base.Demonstrates the ability to understand and execute marketing plans which drive results.Clearly demonstrate Implementation of strategies that allows for execution on clear priorities which lead to results without unnecessary complexities.Drive and position AbbVie in high growth. Determine franchise logical strategic next steps and deliver financial results in both top and relevant bottom-lines.Ensure all facets of the external market, segment and internal enterprise are considered in the strategy and plan setting.Exhibit intense deep and broad market knowledge across the sector, geography and franchise(s), including Key Managed Care and Payer dynamics. Share and provide quantitative and qualitative business acumen and analysis.Team Leadership, Talent Development & ComplianceProvides coaching and leadership to Region Managers to ensure successful attainment of forecasted sales goals.Provides leadership and direction for the Retina team across the national sales organization. Ensures recruiting, hiring, training, developing and performance management is accomplished successfully and timely.Works with Region Managers to proactively identify talent and implement appropriate development plans to maintain a high quality & diverse talent pool for succession planning across all levels of the organization.Exemplifies a track record of promoting talent to new roles with previous roles.Lead, develop and provide necessary coaching to leaders.Develop top talent, providing and supporting development and exposure opportunities.Provide compelling coaching, mentoring and guidance across the business, including not only direct business franchise, but also cross-functional, other field teams and multiple-franchises.Maintain 100% adherence to Compliance and Corporate policies (e.g. Code of Conduct, Healthcare Law Compliance, Expenses, Fleet, etc).Consistently model “One-AbbVie” and AbbVie Ways of Working behaviors.Embodies AbbVie’s Ways We Work spirit.Collaboration, Communication & Stakeholder EngagementExperience collaborating with marketing teams and upper-level management/leadership to design and communicate sales execution priorities, implement critical programs, and deliver key metrics to expand and grow a trained base of physicians.Establishes consistent communication with entire national sales team to recognize performance, highlight emerging trends, & ensure common executional priorities are achieved.Engages with key accounts/physicians to favorably position solutions for accounts/patients as a trusted industry resource.Serves as an ambassador for Abbvie to national organizations as needed to represent corporate initiatives designed to benefit the Eye Care industry.Serves as key point of contact to manage customer relationship issues and/or opportunities, supporting Region Managers & developing opportunities.Ensures needs are met for customers regardless of brand through execution & collaboration with others.Consistently makes contributions that directly advance business objectives as a positive leader within the Eye Care Sales Leadership Team.Builds advocacy and engagement across peer groups and the broader organization (Sales Leadership, Sales Training, Marketing, Managed Markets, Compliance and Sales Operations).Brings diverse thinking and solutions to address business needs.Evolves with trends and technology, to quickly adapt and lead with large groups with consistency.
