This team member will need to sit in our Denver, CO Distribution Center.

Salary: $90,000 - $95,000 (based on individual qualifications)
Annual Bonus: 10%
Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus 401K
Travel: 5%

 

Summary

The DC Safety & Asset Protection (AP) Manager plays a vital role on the Distribution Center’s leadership team, responsible for ensuring a safe and secure workplace for Advance Auto Parts team members (TMs), temporary workers, visitors, and vendors. This role leads risk mitigation efforts and provides real-time support and communication during security breaches or other critical safety events.

The EHS/AP Manager is accountable for reducing TM injury rates, managing security and shrink/damage control, and improving inventory accuracy. Success in this role requires the ability to influence, teach, coach, and train others. Additional responsibilities include ensuring operational and procedural compliance, auditing, hazmat compliance, conducting investigations, and presenting key findings to leadership.

While core duties are outlined below, responsibilities may evolve to meet business needs.

Essential Functions

  • Build and maintain partnerships with DC leadership, CSC, and cross-functional teams.

  • Develop site-specific loss control strategies to prevent and reduce hazards and losses.
  • Investigate incidents (injuries, shrink/inventory issues, security threats, PIT incidents, near misses) and collaborate on corrective actions.
  • Support property protection controls, including fire protection standards, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in DC’s WMS and understand all aspects of DC operations.
  • Promote and coordinate company safety, ethics, and integrity programs.
  • Deliver training on safety, shrink, defectives, inventory control, and critical incident response (Hazmat, Weather, Active Shooter, Civil Unrest).
  • Conduct operational audits as needed.
  • Maintain OSHA-required programs and ensure proper dissemination of information.
  • Alert managers and associates to hazards involving toxic fumes, chemicals, and other dangerous substances.
  • Implement and manage environmental programs in compliance with regulations.
  • Present audit outcomes and loss trends to DC Leadership with improvement recommendations.
  • Conduct physical security walks to ensure compliance with security procedures.
  • Build relationships with local law enforcement and healthcare centers.
  • Serve as SME for book-to-physical inventory tie-out activities.
  • Lead internal investigations and interviews related to safety incidents and theft/fraud.
  • Monitor CCTV and Access Control Systems.

Recommended Experience

  • College degree in Criminal Justice, Safety, Occupational Health, or related field.
  • Prior experience in retail or distribution center preferred.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations

  • Associate Safety Professional (or higher) certification preferred (or obtain within 1 year).
  • Wicklander-Zulawski certification preferred (or obtain within 3 months).
  • Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • CFI, CFE, LPQ, or LPC certifications preferred.
