SUMMARY 

This position is to manage and lead the development of the technical and quality requirements to meet the success of our private label direct import programs and services.  The Product Quality Engineering Manager works in parallel and in partnership with the USA Quality Team and Taipei Sourcing Team throughout the life span of the product line assigned.  By working independently or leading a Product Quality Engineer, he/she develops technical plans that include the processes and resources required, short- and long-term improvement opportunities, and direct the creation and development of the product category assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the USA Quality Team and Taipei Sourcing Team to assess the initiatives of our private label programs.
  • Perform Quality Assessment on potential factories based on company internal procedures.
  • Partner with internal teams to establish product specifications and company product standards in accordance with the project objectives.
  • Develop product validation (fit, form, and function) plans and work with vendors to complete product validation processes.
  • Lead internal teams, the 3rd party laboratories, and vendors and develop product testing and inspection protocols.
  • Manage test laboratories and vendors to complete end-to-end product testing processes.
  • Investigate and resolve product quality issues escalated from the field services, stores, and D.C.s.
  • Partner with internal teams and vendors to investigate the root cause and minimize unwarranted defective rates.
  • Initiate and manage long term product and process continuous improvement opportunities/strategies and building blocks.
  • Responsibility may also include leading, managing, and guiding a Product Quality Engineer.

  • Manage technical training and development plans for the Quality Engineer.
  • Support and supervise the product validation reports, product testing reports, and inspection protocol completed by the Quality Engineer.

  • Travel is required throughout parts of Asia (30~35%).

QUALIFICATIONS   

  • Read and approve engineering drawings (include geometric tolerance) and product technical specifications.
  • Fluency in different manufacturing processes (casting, forging, stamping, machining, plastic injections, surface treatment, etc.).
  • Create and approve testing and inspection protocols for aftermarket parts and accessories.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members on project-based activities (time and cost constraints).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshoot relevant project matters and quality issues.
  • Capable of communicating and collaborating in an English cultural environment.
  • Ability to build in-depth technical knowledge for the product category assigned.
  • Read and write fluency in Mandarin Chinese. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or relevant engineering degree.
  • Minimum five years working experiences in the following areas:

  • Technical development of aftermarket automotive parts and accessories.
  • Asia sourcing operation in managing work relationships between merchant/sourcing teams and overseas factories.
  • Manufacturing operation and understanding relevant manufacturing and quality systems.
