THE ROLE: Performance engineering role focused on benchmark development, execution, and performance validation of next generation AMD server architecture and AI accelerators. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering, compiler/benchmark optimization and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products  Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies Participating in new ASIC and hardware bring ups Collaborate closely with partners to validate compiler optimizations Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work Develop technical relationships with peers and partners PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience using Linux and included performance analysis tools and methods. Understanding of computer system architecture. Demonstrated programming/scripting experience (e.g. C/C++. BASH, Python, etc). Experience working with different compilers (GCC/LLVM/AOCC), optimizations techniques (LTO, OpenMP etc.); NUMA pinning/affinity strategies. Experience with benchmarks such as STREAM, Multichase, SPECCPU2017, HPL, DGEMM, GUPS, SPECJbb and other industry standard benchmarks. Setting up server systems/clusters, compile kernels, load OS's, configure networks and storage. Experience benchmarking memory technologies such as DDR5, CXL, HBM and others. Experience with vectorization/SIMD tuning; memory allocator selection. Experience with analyzing and reproducing public benchmark results and understanding of run rules. Parallel computing experience (e.g. threading, OpenMPI strategies). Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus Effective communication and problem-solving skills ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Location: Austin, TX - Hybrid (3 days on site) #LI-LM1 #LI-HYBRID Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
