THE ROLE: The SW Operations Manager will serve as the key operations leader responsible for site-level planning and execution of budgeting, forecasting, OPEX/Capital attainment, engineering labs, special programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will partner closely with engineering leadership, finance, procurement, IT, facilities and other global AMD teams. The role requires strong influence skills—able to lead without direct authority—and will act as the liaison between local engineering teams and AMD functions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations Management: Serve as the primary liaison between the Belgrade site and AMD functions including Finance, Procurement, IT, Facilities, Supply Chain, HR and others. Influence and collaborate with global stakeholders, site leadership and engineering leads to align operational strategy, priorities and resource allocation, effectively managing without always having direct reporting authority. Communicate clearly and regularly with stakeholders, providing operational updates, risk assessments and recommendations for improvement. Finance & Budgeting Drive the annual site budget for OPEX and Capital spend. Drive financial attainment and cost-control discipline. Monitor actuals vs. plan, identify variances, propose corrective actions and report progress to senior leadership. Support capital planning for infrastructure upgrades and tooling investments. Facilitate engineering procurement requests Collaborate with procurement and legal teams on activities involving contracts and statements of work Engineering Labs and Site Oversee the creation and assignment of engineering lab spaces for product development. Evaluate and fulfill requests for new lab space, considering key requirements such as physical space, power, cooling, noise control, and networking. Drive improvements in lab utilization, and alignment with engineering program needs. Collaborate with engineering leadership to define future lab requirements Track capital asset inventory, lifecycle management, and facilitate calibration/maintenance schedules Monitor and analyze workplace seating utilization data to ensure efficient space allocation, identify capacity constraints, and recommend expansion or optimization strategies Program Management of Special Projects Lead or co-lead site special projects (e.g., new facility build-out, relocation, consolidation, major infrastructure upgrade, process transformation) from concept through execution, working cross-functionally. Establish project plans, milestones, resource allocation, risk mitigation, status reporting and stakeholder engagement. Continuous Improvement Champion and implement continuous improvement initiatives (process optimization, lean practices, automation of processes, operational metrics, KPIs) across site operations, labs and support functions. Develop metrics, dashboards and performance reports to drive accountability and continuous improvement. Promote a culture of operational excellence, analytical thinking and data-driven decision making. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Proven experience (multiple years of experience) in operations management, site management, or program management in a technology/engineering environment (preferably software or hardware engineering labs). Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, cost control, OPEX/Capital planning, financial reporting. Demonstrated ability to manage facilities, labs or engineering infrastructure, vendor relationships and service operations. Program/project management experience, with success delivering special projects on time and budget. Proven continuous improvement mindset: track record of process improvement, lean/automation initiatives, metrics/KPIs. Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills—ability to work with engineering, finance, procurement and support functions globally, without direct authority. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including ability to convey operational status, risk, business impact to senior leadership. Strong analytical skills, data-driven decision making, comfortable with KPIs, dashboards and operational metrics. Experience working in a multicultural/multi-site global organization; familiarity with remote/virtual collaboration. Local language(s) and English proficiency required.
