Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a CAD Designer - Highways and Roads, based in our Sudbury, ON, Canada office.

_This is a full-time role expected to begin as soon as possible_

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and draft highway rehabilitation projects using 2D AutoCAD software.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings, including plans, profiles, cross-sections, geometrics, drainage, utilities, signing, pavement markings, detours, and construction staging.
  • Prepare design quantities and cost estimates and provide technical support during tendering and construction.
  • Undertake design tasks under the supervision of a project manager or senior team member.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental planners, technologists, and administrative staff.
  • Monitor project plans and schedules.
  • Participate in meetings with internal staff, subconsultants, and clients.
  • Document meeting decisions and follow up on action items.
  • Contribute to technical reports and studies.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have completed a Civil Engineering Technician or Technology Diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience in highway design.
  • 1-5 years of experience using AutoCAD software.
  • Effective communication skills with project team members in an office environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proactive and reliable, with a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong technical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of TAC, OTM, and MTO design procedures and standards.
  • Experience with MTO highway designs and standards is an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCad Civil3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads software is an asset.
  • Field and construction inspection experience is an asset.
  • OACETT Certification (C.Tech or C.E.T.) is an asset.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $50,000.00 - $68,000.00.
