Job Description

AECOM South Africa is looking for candidate bridge engineers for the delivery of diverse local and international bridge projects.

Here is what you will do:

  • Design and planning of new bridges, culverts, and other road and rail structures in accordance with TMH7 and other relevant codes;
  • Rehabilitation and upgrading design of existing bridges and drainage structures;
  • Assist with the preparation of construction drawings;
  • Assist with the preparation of project specifications and contract documentation;
  • Assist with the inspection of bridges and culverts in accordance with TMH19;
  • Applying the AECOM Quality Management System (QMS) in all work;
  • Assist with preparation of design reports.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Zero to four years’ experience (including appropriate site experience);
  • Experience in the design of bridges and other civil structures will be a benefit;
  • Experience in the inspection of bridges and culverts will be a benefit;
  • Knowledge of international bridge regulations and standards bridge design codes (AASHTO, AREMA, etc.) will be a benefit;
  • Proficiency in structural design software (Midas, Sofistik, RM Bridge. CSi Bridge) will be a benefit;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit and CADS RC will be a benefit.
  • Commitment to learn and work within a team environment;
  • Dedicated to deliver correct and accurate work;
  • Good communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Postgraduate studies in structural and/or bridge engineering will be a benefit.
