Job Description

How you’ll make a difference:

  • Lead and oversee electrical design delivery for rail infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
  • Manage and mentor electrical engineers and designers , fostering technical excellence and driving continuous improvement in design quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders , providing expert guidance on electrical systems integration, risk management, and constructability.
  • Ensure timely project delivery and cost control , balancing technical requirements with commercial objectives while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated competency in rail-specific electrical systems , including 1500V DC traction power, high-voltage distribution, and associated protection/control systems, in accordance with Sydney Trains and TfNSW standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of designer’s obligations under Rail Safety National Law and TfNSW engineering assurance processes , including experience working within a Technically Assured Organisation (TAO) framework.
  • Proven ability in design leadership, coordination and integration across multiple rail disciplines on multiple projects simultaneously.
