Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector to contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality construction projects. This role involves confirming compliance with project design and specifications, industry standards for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of mechanical installations while collaborating with a team of professionals dedicated to excellence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and plumbing systems, confirming proper functionality and performance
  • Inspect mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for compliance with contract requirements and industry standards
  • Review contractor shop drawings and submittals to confirm alignment with project specifications
  • Identify, document and report non-conformances, coordinating with contractors and engineers to implement corrective actions
  • Conduct labor interviews to verify proper worker classification and wage compliance
  • Immediately notify contractors and relevant officials of any potentially life-threatening safety conditions
  • Maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and records for quality assurance and compliance tracking
  • Oversee corrective actions for unacceptable construction work and support final inspections, punch lists, and project closeouts
  • Witness and document critical tests, such as pressure tests, leak tests, and system start-ups
  • Verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and equipment installations to confirm adherence to project specifications

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Construction, Electrical engineering + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with local and national codes
  • Experience with construction methods and techniques

Preferred Requirements:

  • Eight (8) years building construction experience with emphasis on Quality Assurance/Quality Control with oversight responsibility for mechanical/HVAC, plumbing systems
  • Experience working on federal and high education managed construction projects
  • Experience in reviewing contractor shop drawings and submittals
  • Experience working in and around historic properties and occupied modernizations are desirable
  • OSHA 10-hour training certification
  • Certified Construction Quality Manager for Contractors (CQM-C) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
  • Experience working with federal Project Management Systems

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $125000 to $135000.
