Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Design Manager to be based in San Bernardino, CA.

Job specifics include:

  • Oversees building design process to ensure compliance with client standards and guidelines for the District by working with design professionals and various District administrators to ensure that new and modernized structures meet both educational and building standards requirements
  • Establishes and follows an effective and efficient design review process to ensure that the design meets the overall goals and objectives for each project
  • Manages multiple projects, including engineering repair and critical repair, through interaction with Architects, consultants, and client personnel to ensure timely completion of these projects
  • Provides Architects with clear and consistent direction with regard to goals and objectives, standards, site, schedule, and budget for each project
  • Establishes and follows a process to identify and select the architectural firm best suited for each project based on firms qualifications and ability to meet performance standards.
  • Five years of this experience in design, planning and construction of educational facilities or public agencies
  • Reviews design changes to ensure project remains within budget
  • Monitors project planning and design status to report findings, recommendations, and updates
  • Responsible for management of multi-disciplinary designs and/or technical design reviews.
  • Coordinating design consultants and contractor submissions.
  • Ability to work independently with good technical knowledge.
  • Project management and commercial experience.
  • Undertake detailed technical reviews from concept through detailed design
  • Design management for infrastructure and or building projects
  • Managing and coordinating design submissions from contractors and designers
  • Coordination of different design disciplines
  • Coordination and management across different sectors and interfaces
  • Documentation management using appropriate software and systems
  • Preparation of Scope of Works and Requests for Proposals
  • Technical assessment of tenders and proposals
  • Quality management and compliance with design procedures
  • Monitoring and reporting on program and cost control
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS + 4 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Skills:

  • DBIA Certified
  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers
  • CCM certification
