Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with solid experience in hydro generator systems and associated cooling equipment. This role focuses on the mechanical engineering aspects of generators, including housing, rotor/stator integration, and thermal management systems, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability in hydro generation stations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design reviews for hydro generators, stators, rotors, and auxiliaries
  • Evaluate generator cooling systems (air, hydrogen, or water-cooled) and ventilation design
  • Coordinate closely with electrical engineers on integration of electromechanical systems
  • Manage specifications and vendor interfaces for mechanical generator systems
  • Support installation, alignment, and mechanical performance testing
  • Review OEM documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements and standards

Qualifications

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in hydro or large rotating electrical machinery
  • Strong understanding of generator mechanical design principles and cooling strategies
  • Experience working with OEMs on generator system procurement and testing
  • Familiarity with generator codes and standards (e.g. IEC, IEEE, ASME)
  • Proficient in interpreting mechanical stress, vibration, and thermal analyses
  • Excellent coordination skills with electrical and control teams
