Job Description

AECOM is seeking a multimodal Senior Project Manager - Rail / Bridge engineer, capable of managing and coordinating an extensive program primarily consisting of rail, station, and catenary replacements, and bridge rehabilitations and replacements, including replacement of a complex bridge. This position is to be based in Rocky Hill, CT.

This role will require extensive written and verbal coordination. This role includes identifying and coordinating upcoming tasks, developing scopes of services and fee proposals, managing and procuring resources, and overseeing the project’s quality, timeliness and budget.

Responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
  • Manages large projects to achieve specified objectives. Overall planning, coordination and control of projects from inception to completion. Manages scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management.
  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates technical assignments.
  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Acts independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.
  • Prepares and/or oversees preparation of reports, proposals, and other documentation for clients and review agencies
  • Participates in leadership discussions and effectively communicates workload requirements for a specific technical group or department.
  • Supports client relationships by performance, service, and effective communication.
  • Trains, mentors and develops staff and supports career growth opportunities for staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and eight (8) years of relevant experience in transportation structures or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent and be willing to obtain reciprocity in the jurisdiction of the projects.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience with Railroad projects
  • Experience with complex bridge projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous and relevant experience working on 'mega' projects
  • Ten (10) years of related design experience is preferred.
  • Project experience with CTDOT and/or other State DOT’s
  • Experience managing large projects as a subconsultant
  • Ability to work in the Rocky Hill, CT office 2 - 3 days per week

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $127,117.00 - $220,000.00.
