Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented and experienced Water Technical Leader to support water treatment and distribution related planning, design, and construction projects throughout the Northeast Region (New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the planning, design, construction, and operation of water related projects, including supply, treatment, pumping station, storage, and distribution / transmission. The preferred candidate will have a proven ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver successful projects. The position offers a unique opportunity to work within an established and successful regional and national group that offers a diverse range of technical challenges and career development opportunities. In this role, you will have an opportunity to mentor junior staff and interact with key clients. Join our team and help us continue to deliver innovating and successful projects.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and oversee pilot studies.
  • Coordinate and oversee condition assessment of water infrastructure.
  • Perform process technology evaluations and selection based on raw water characteristics and flows to satisfy safe drinking water regulations.
  • Concept, preliminary and detail designs for water treatment plant upgrades.
  • Concept, preliminary and detailed designs for water distribution projects (pumping stations, storage tanks, and distribution / transmission mains).
  • Coordination with civil, hydraulic and mechanical aspects while guiding and informing the architectural, structural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
  • Assess trends in the marketplace and support business development activities related to water projects, including strategy, approach, and engineering fee.
  • Mentor and develop junior water process and designs staff.
  • Participate in local and national professional organizations, including attending and presenting at conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with planning, design, construction, and operation of water-related projects, including supply, treatment, pumping station, storage, and distribution / transmission.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water planning and design.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing.
  • Strong knowledge of water design codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.
  • Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.
  • Self-starter and ability to take initiative.
  • Experienced technical writer.

Additional Information

  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $130,000.00 - $170,000.00.
