Role Overview

Focus areas include Observability Foundation Models for advanced anomaly detection and multi-modal telemetry analysis, SRE Autonomous Agents for incident resolution, and Production Code Repair Agents that fix performance issues and security vulnerabilities automatically. Key Responsibilities at Datadog
- Conduct pioneering research in Generative AI and Machine Learning to build specialized Foundation Models for observability and SRE
- Leverage large-scale distributed training infrastructure to pre-train models on diverse telemetry data (logs, metrics, traces)
- Develop AI agents for multi-step planning, reasoning, and autonomous incident resolution in production
- Build production code repair agents that analyze code, logs, and runtime data to preemptively fix issues
- Create simulated environments for on-policy agent training and robust evaluation
- Lead research publications at NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML and open-source key models and benchmarks
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to integrate multi-modal AI analysis into Datadog platform
- Push boundaries of cloud observability, DevOps automation, and security through AI
Qualifications & Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field with 3+ years hands-on research experience
- Proven publications at top-tier conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR)
- Deep expertise in Generative AI, Foundation Models, transformers, and large-scale training
- Strong experience with multi-modal learning (text, metrics, traces, code)
- Proficiency in PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow and distributed training frameworks (DeepSpeed, FSDP)
- Experience building AI agents with reinforcement learning, planning, or LLM reasoning
- Domain knowledge in observability, SRE, cloud infrastructure highly preferred
- Excellent collaboration skills with engineering and product teams
