Internship or Master Thesis on Resilient 5G/6G Multipath Connectivity for Aerial Vehicles (d/f/m)

We at Airbus Central Research & Technology pioneer cutting edge technologies for future airborne and spaceborne systems, providing novel functionalities whilst reducing the environmental footprint of Airbus products and services. You will join the team of our researchers working on novel communication technologies. With your contribution, you will make an impact on the development of reliable and resilient 5G/6G connectivity solutions leveraging state-of-the-art multi-path connectivity protocols for Airbus.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Investigating state-of-the-art protocols and concepts for reliable multipath connectivity.

  • Developing a measurement testbed to investigate multipath transport protocols onboard Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAV) flights.

  • Setting up multiple wireless networks to leverage them for multipath connectivity experiments.

  • Programming scripts to automate processes during measurements.

  • Conducting in-laboratory and in-flight experiments.

  • Analyzing the collected datasets from experiments for feasibility assessment.

 

 Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within communication technology/electrical engineering/computing or similar

  • You have a good understanding of multi-path connectivity and related transport protocols

  • You have a good understanding of Linux OS, Linux kernel, bash scripting as well as Python programming.

  • Previous hands-on experience with protocols such as MPTCP, MP-QUIC or MP-DCCP is a plus

  • Fluent in English or German
