Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Safety manager​ (f/m) to join our RAMS department based in Toulouse, France.

Our RAMS department mission is:

  • To provide centralised Engineering services for On-Board and Ground segments to all programs, from equipment to system level, covering the complete Dependability & Safety technical domains, on every Space System sites.
  • To maintain and develop the technical excellence in Dependability & Safety Engineering.
  • To sustain technical innovation and to develop efficiency through Research and Development activities for what concerns Dependability & Safety
  • To promote and widen the RAMS support that can be provided to programs
  • To develop technical exchanges within Airbus.

As Safety manager on EV3 program (*), you will be expected to ensure that all dependability and safety risks associated with the design, development, production and operation of the system are adequately identified, assessed, minimised, controlled and finally accepted, over the whole scope and duration of the project.

    Your challenges:

    • SAFETY management
      • Maintain the Safety plan in accordance with the project safety requirements
      • Lead the Safety & Dependability team (~5 persons)
      • Overall responsibility for the assessment of the validation of lower than system-level safety requirements, and the validation of system-level safety requirements.
      • Review and/or Approbation of Safety-related deliverables
      • Safety assessment of the derived and Security requirements
      • Book captain of the Safety Assurance File that summarizes all evidences w.r.t Safety to the relevant authorities
      • Safety assessment of the Technical Facts (anomalies) reported by IVQ and participation to the Non-conformance Review Board (weekly)
    • Leadership
      • Manage the workload for all Safety and Dependability activities and size the team according to it
      • For each task identified, coordinate the RAMS team for the allocation, identification of book captains up to the review and/or Approbation of Safety-related deliverables
      • Promote team spirit within the team
    • Stakeholder interface
      • Represent ADS in each Safety Board with ESA:
        • Safety quarterly meeting
        • Progress meeting
        • PA & Safety splinters
      • Organisation and preparation of the Safety Key Points with ESA
      • Management of the weekly RAMS meeting and presentation of the RAMS status to the PA & Safety Manager
      • Safety assessment of the Technical Facts (anomalies) and participation to the Non-conformance Review Board (weekly)

    Your profile:

    • Knowledge of RAMS engineering processes methods and tools,
    • Standards: MIL-HDBK-217F+N2, FIDES, ECSS dependability and safety standards, DO 254 / 278,
    • Mastering of GNSS signal processing techniques, and statistical data analysis would be an asset,
    • Experience in ESA or large navigation project,
    • Good communication & presentation skills (interface with many internal customers/stakeholders, external customers, suppliers,...),
    • Able to lead in coordination with other RAMS team members,
    • Autonomous, Proactive approach,
    • Openness and flexibility,
    • Good team spirit,
    • Fluent in English and French.

    (*) European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) is Europe's regional satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) that is used to improve the performance of GNSSs, such as GPS and Galileo. It provides safety of life navigation services to aviation, maritime and land-based users over most of Europe.
