Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, weld, prepare and layout work from blueprints
  • Fabricate, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery and equipment including piping systems, pumps, conveyor type systems
  • Work on various types of production equipment including aluminum reduction cells, cranes and furnaces
  • Work from shop orders, blueprints, sketches and/or verbal information to layout, setup and operate metal working equipment such as shears, brake, rolls, drill press, power saws, welding machines, spot welders, etc.
  • Use a regular range of hand tools to fabricate, repair and build iron work products
  • Perform complicated mechanical repair or rebuild tasks on equipment
  • Work with and provide assistance to other trades in performing repair operations

Qualifications

  • Possess a High School degree or GED
  • Valid NYS Journeyperson mechanical license or similar mechanic certification
  • Ability to read layout drawings and blueprints
  • Proven mechanical ability involving welding, fabricating, machinery installation, alignment, rigging, machining and the ability to work with precision to within a thousandth of an inch
