Job Description

WWGS (Worldwide Grocery Stores) organization leads the innovation of Amazon’s omni-channel grocery offerings (Fresh, Whole Foods, 3P). In this space, Amazon aims to delight customers by providing broad selection, competitive prices, best-in-class delivery, convenient in-store/pickup options across regions, and an end-to-end shopping experience that makes it easy for customers to discover what they love and build complete grocery baskets. The Grocery Economics and Optimization Science team in WWGS is looking for an Economist to drive the vision of creating a bar raising customer experience in online channels, leading to growth in customer acquisition and loyalty.As an Economist on the team, you will help Amazon Grocery’s Delivery and Pickup channels to improve customer experience and accelerate growth opportunities like the recently launched Amazon Grocery Subscription or Fresh Groceries on Same-Day Delivery service. You will be expected to own the the full lifecycle of your projects from business requirements gathering, devising methodological approaches, data extraction and exploration, implementation, validation, and socialization.A successful candidate will be able to partner effectively with both business and technical teams, including clear communication of results and the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience applying causal inference techniques and impact estimation, and be curious and excited to apply these in challenging real-world settings. They will thrive in working to deliver impactful solutions to the business problem, in the face of ambiguity over which modeling approaches will deliver the best results. Key job responsibilities- Apply expertise in causal modeling and machine learning to measure the impact of key initiatives on customers’ long-term engagement.- Design experiments to measure pilot programs and support the scaling of successful experiments.- Develop and maintain attribution models to understand the key drivers of high value customer actions.- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, finance analysts and executive-level decision makers to synthesize findings into actionable insights.

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
