Job Description

Amazon is building the next generation software, hardware, and processes that will run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, autonomy, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems. The WW Technology Deployment organization is seeking a talented and solutions-oriented System Development Manager to deliver complex robotics systems into Amazon fulfillment network. In this role, you will lead a team managing construction metrology, point cloud automation, utility studies, and semi-automated deployment tooling. High level responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:• Lead a team of system development engineers, responsible for developing hardware and software solutions to accelerate robotic deployment process• Manage complex stakeholder relationships and escalations across multiple organizational levels, effectively communicating technical challenges and resource constraints while driving consensus on priorities and timeline decisions.• Review both design specs and code and provide feedback to engineers to insist on highest standards in terms of system design and code quality.• Partner with Technical Program Managers, Reality Capture Managers, Deployment Engineers, Solutions Designers, and peer managers to identify new features or products that can bring substantial benefits for customers. Prioritize feature requests to maximize contributions to our goals while maintaining the right trade-off between addressing tactical needs versus investing in strategic solutions.• Translate business requirements into engineering requirements to scope resource needs and manage multiple projects and dependencies effectively to deliver projects on schedule. Lead sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to assign work, monitor progress, and collect feedback.• Drive operations excellence by analyzing ticket root causes, defects, and technical debt and creating projects to reduce both short-term and long-term operational load.

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $149,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $258,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
