Job Description

We are seeking a Principal Camera Systems Engineer to lead and drive innovation in advanced camera systems for our products. The ideal candidate will be a technology leader with extensive experience in camera sensors, optics and image processing, capable of steering complex projects from concept to mass production while mentoring teams and shaping our technological roadmap.We are open to hiring this role in Tampere Finland, Cambridge UK, Sunnyvale or Los Angeles US.Key job responsibilities- Spearhead the definition and execution of strategic studies for next-generation camera optics, sensors, actuators, image processing (ISP and NN), video compression, and respective system design.- Provide high-level technical leadership across multiple cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of camera hardware into products.- Establish and manage relationships with key offshore manufacturing partners, overseeing camera design evaluation, product prototype builds, and qualification processes.- Direct system level failure analysis efforts and implement innovative corrective actions to optimize system design, assembly processes, testing, and calibration.- Lead advanced parametric-data analysis initiatives for end-of-line yield and post-reliability failures, driving continuous improvement.- Guide the evaluation and debugging of camera hardware at module and product levels, setting standards for Design and Integration.- Spearhead research into emerging optical technologies, providing strategic guidance for future R&D roadmap planning and resolving complex hardware technology challenges.- Architect revolutionary imaging systems and champion the development of advanced manufacturing-oriented design and simulation platforms.- Deliver analysis and industry insights on camera, imaging, light source designs, and optical sensing to inform executive decision-making.- Cultivate and expand high-level industry-academic relationships to support long-term R&D initiatives and maintain the company's technological edge.- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.- Participate in strategic planning sessions with executive leadership to align technological capabilities with business objectives.
