The Controls Applications Engineer within OneMHS plays a critical role in the design, deployment, and commissioning of industrial automation systems within Amazon’s greenfield and retrofit material handling projects. This position bridges engineering design with field execution, ensuring that controls solutions are robust, standardized, and effectively deployed across multiple projects. The engineer will work closely with design teams, system integrators, and on-site commissioning personnel to deliver high-performing systems that meet safety, reliability, and operational requirements. Key job responsibilitiesEngineering Support- Participate in project engineering reviews from a controls execution and deployment perspective.- Provide feedback on control system architecture, network topology, and hardware/software selections.Code & Standards Management- Review and validate standard code libraries for reusability, maintainability, and compliance with Amazon best practices.- Develop and adapt site-specific applications to integrate with existing control platforms.Pre-Commissioning Readiness- Identify and document pre-commissioning requirements, including I/O checks, network verification, and safety validations.- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) with structured checklists and tools.Commissioning & Deployment- Develop detailed on-site testing and commissioning plans, including sequencing, dependencies, and risk mitigation steps.- Execute commissioning activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless startup and handover.- Troubleshoot and resolve controls-related issues during installation and commissioning phases.Technical Leadership- Serve as the subject matter expert for controls applications during deployment.- Mentor commissioning engineers and technicians on best practices and standard workflows.- Provide lessons learned and feedback loops into future controls design and standards.

The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market.
