What you will do

  • Manage infrastructure that supports high-performance computing (HPC) environments that support research work such as data science, computational chemistry, structural biology and image analysis.
  • Install and maintain operating systems and application software that support research work.
  • Ensure HPC systems are secure, reliable, scalable and cost-effective.
  • Provide documentation, training and technical support to scientists using HPC systems.
  • Continuously upgrade skills and knowledge in line with the evolving scientific computing landscape.
  • Ensure effective communication between stakeholders, including conveying technical ideas to both business and technology partners.

What we expect of you

  • Master's degree / Bachelor's degree with 5-9 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field with hands-on Linux system administration

Must-Have Skills

  • Linux/Unix system administration
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Ansible, Docker or Terraform
  • Experience in cloud computing (preferably AWS) and cloud architecture
  • Experience supporting research in healthcare life sciences and familiarity with administration of scientific software tools such as Schrodinger, CryoSparc, SBGrid
  • Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and service mesh architectures
  • Experience in an Agile development environment
  • Proficiency with job scheduling and resource management tools (SLURM, PBS, LSF, etc.)
  • Understanding of networking architecture and security best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
  • Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment
