This role works closely with internal designers and external vendors to enable design that’s currently not achievable in the existing supply chain. You will be involved in developing new equipment, processes, and methods for process validation/ monitoring to convert an idea in the lab to a mass-produced part. Will you help us design the next generation of revolutionary Apple products? This is a role that requires close collaboration with external vendors, contract manufacturers, and internal teams (design, operation, and so on) to deliver an active alignment solution for a new optical module from engineering to mass production phases. Typically, the active alignment solution consists of new equipment (new equipment refers to a new machine model/ variant, not a new buy of an existing machine model), a process recipe, a method for process validation and control, and deployment at the contract manufacturer site.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master/ PhD in Engineering, Physics or Materials or equivalent. (degree in engineering)
- Expertise in either 1) optics attach (active alignment) process or 2) optical functionality test of optical devices (for example camera, projector, range finder, flashlight, proximity sensor and etc) (experience)
- Experience in tooling-up existing process machine for new optical device (>3 years) (experience, 3 years)
- Experience in in improving process efficiency and yield, eg design of experiment (DOE), machine bottleneck analysis (>3 years) (experience, 3 years)
- Clear and effective communication (written, in person and virtual) skill (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed to operate laser (eg, Singapore NEA N3 license) (experience)
- Experience in developing new mass production equipment and process for new optical devices (experience)
- Experience in translating optical design document to alignment and process requirement (experience)
- Expertise in optical domain to understand/ read optical design document (experience)
- Expertise in electrical electronic field to understand/ read EE design document (experience)
- Experience in enabling equipment and process from prototype build to mass production phase (experience)
Responsibilities
- This is a role that requires close collaboration with external vendors, contract manufacturers, and internal teams (design, operation, and so on) to deliver an active alignment solution for a new optical module from engineering to mass production phases.
- Typically, the active alignment solution consists of new equipment (new equipment refers to a new machine model/ variant, not a new buy of an existing machine model), a process recipe, a method for process validation and control, and deployment at the contract manufacturer site.
- Work closely with external vendor, contract manufacturer, and internal team to deliver active alignment process for new optical module in engineering phase (small quantity)
- Review module alignment/ assembly requirement
- Translate module requirement to process requirement and process requirement to equipment requirement
- Conduct new equipment buy off, process and machine bring up
- Fine tune and sustain operation in engineering phase
- Convert and deploy engineering solution for mass production
- Conduct post-build analysis and follow-up such as generating report on process efficiency and yield, FACA (failure analysis and corrective action) on yield loss, process improvement and etc
