Apple Data Platform is looking for a Manager committed to lead our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. Whether you’re thinking Site or Service, this SRE organization has ownership of it all. We’re as actively involved in the design of the platform, its evolution and overall availability, reliability and scalability. Our SREs are experts on our services from the software running down to the hardware used. As the Manager, you will craft the future of the Apple Data Platform SRE team by being both a product centric and engineering minded leader. You will be responsible for the quality of the customer experience in production and in the ideation, design, and development of what’s to come. You will have a proven ability to solve problems whether they require a rapid response or a long term strategy.

Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience (experience, 8 years)
- 2+ years of software engineering management experience (experience, 2 years)
- Bachelor degree in relevant engineering disciplines (degree in degree in relevant engineering disciplines)
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of data analytics and storage technologies like Apache Spark, HDFS, S3, Data Governance systems, and related software in large-scale environments (experience)
- Experience with distributed systems in a production operations environment (experience)
- Advanced experience with programming and/or scripting languages (Golang, Python, bash) (experience)
- Experience working with Kubernetes and other cloud technologies like (AWS, GCP etc) (experience)
- Experience with DevOps tools, processes, and culture (experience)
- Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions that are easily maintainable, understandable, and diagnosable (experience)
- Able to write clear and consumable documentation (experience)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams (experience)
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results on time with high quality (experience)
- Extensive experience leading customer facing systems in a high uptime 24/7 environment (experience)
- Passionate about leading a global 24/7 engineering organization (experience)
- A consistent track record of automation (experience)
- Lifelong learner who fosters diversity of thought in their approach to management (experience)
- Track record of building and running high-performance teams (experience)
Responsibilities
- As the Manager, you will craft the future of the Apple Data Platform SRE team by being both a product centric and engineering minded leader. You will be responsible for the quality of the customer experience in production and in the ideation, design, and development of what’s to come. You will have a proven ability to solve problems whether they require a rapid response or a long term strategy.
- Building software and systems to manage services and applications through automation.
- Deployment support and monitoring of existing and new services, platforms, and application stacks.
- Measurement and optimization of service performance.
- Explore and evaluate new technologies and solutions to push our capabilities forward and solve tomorrow’s problems, not just today’s.
- Operate, monitor, and triage all aspects of our production and non-production environments.
