Job Description
Instrument Engineering is a small team of engineers that design and productise Software Defined Radios and precision RF and Analog Test Equipment for use in testing, calibrating and researching cellular, 5G, satellite communications, WiFi, BT, mmWave, UWB and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs and Watches. All members of the team bring their own unique expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to Apple's exacting standards that maintain the quality, accuracy and function of commercially available offerings. We’re looking for interns with good fundamentals in embedded software and an understanding of basic DSP to join the Instrument Engineering team at Apple. If you are interested in expanding your knowledge on embedded systems, working hand-by-hand with very skilled engineers from all over the world and want to help us create amazing products, this internship may be for you! As an Embedded Software Intern, you will develop and debug embedded software using modern engineering techniques as part of a diverse team. You will get the opportunity to apply concepts learnt at university in a start-up-like environment working for one of the most recognised companies in the world. You will be designing real-time systems, with a focus on stability and quality. You need to be comfortable mixing software design and development with basic signal processing and RF concepts. You will expand your RF and communication theory knowledge and have an introduction to GPUs.

Required Qualifications
- Recent graduates with a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science or EE. (experience)
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages. (experience)
- Basic command of Digital Signal Processing. (experience)
- Feel comfortable using RF lab equipment. (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Students or recent graduates of MSc/PhD in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science or EE. (degree in recent graduates of msc)
- Embedded systems background, either real-time embedded systems or for signal processing projects. (experience)
- Experience using some of the following: POSIX APIs, Metal Framework, macOS development, Linux kernel development. (experience)
