Job Description

Our team is a diverse and nimble group that provides services to Apple’s corporate buildings and retail stores and workplaces. We develop and manage Apple’s global real estate portfolio, maintain outstanding facilities and site services, drive sustainability initiatives, and ensure the health and safety of all Apple personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities around the world. The EMEIA Zero Waste Programme Manager is part of the Global Energy & Sustainability team, and plays a critical role in executing strategies to fulfill our circular materials and zero waste objectives at our corporate offices and retail stores in EMEIA. The focus of the role is to develop and implement solutions across our real estate portfolio that contribute to Apple achieving its goals of zero waste to landfill, increased use of renewable or recycled materials, and reduced carbon emissions. As a geographic lead, the role will collaborate extensively with internal and external stakeholders in region to drive results that impact our building design, development, and operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting sustainability, zero waste, environmental management, and/or environmental science based initiatives. (experience)
  • Experience implementing cross-functional environmental programs with results meeting or exceeding targets (experience)
  • Proficiency with complex waste-related data; ability to identify trends and use analytics to develop strategies and support business decisions (experience)
  • Ability to influence without authority; strong interpersonal skills (experience)
  • Full English language proficiency, written and verbal (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in environmental science, policy, sustainability or materials science (degree in masters degree in environmental science)
  • Programme management experience in zero waste / sustainability field (experience)
  • Demonstrated success with mobilizing teams across complex and ambiguous organisational settings (e.g. internal and external stakeholders, geographic dispersion, etc.) (experience)
  • Familiarity with green building certifications including LEED, BREAAM, TRUE, UL, etc. (certification)
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation (experience)
  • Written or spoken language skills relevant to EMEIA region including Spanish, French, German, etc. (experience)

Responsibilities

  • The EMEIA Zero Waste Programme Manager is part of the Global Energy & Sustainability team, and plays a critical role in executing strategies to fulfill our circular materials and zero waste objectives at our corporate offices and retail stores in EMEIA. The focus of the role is to develop and implement solutions across our real estate portfolio that contribute to Apple achieving its goals of zero waste to landfill, increased use of renewable or recycled materials, and reduced carbon emissions. As a geographic lead, the role will collaborate extensively with internal and external stakeholders in region to drive results that impact our building design, development, and operations.
  • Waste Management and Reporting: Implement regular waste volume data capture including waste audits, stay abreast of emerging legislation and compliance requirements (CSRD, country-level etc.), and monitor progress towards environmental goals, reporting on key metrics to stakeholders.
  • Programme Localization: Work closely with GEST Zero Waste Program Lead and Retail Sustainability Program Manager to adjust program strategies for local conditions. Develop regional implementation strategies and identify opportunities to improve performance and drive innovation.
  • Zero Waste Certifications: Drive and implement roadmaps for TRUE certification for major office sites and flagship stores in EMEIA, supporting teams through the entire process. Manage application development process and all necessary documentation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Education: Develop effective cross-functional relationships across multiple groups including janitorial, Caffe Macs, EH&S, Procurement, Events, and Operations to execute on zero waste roadmap. Liaise with city, local council, consultants and vendors as necessary to manage expectations and workstreams. Conduct trainings and educational events to support ongoing programme performance.
