Responsibilities may include: • Provide support to design, engineering, prototyping and validation activities for all hardware product lines • Help to create the next generation of the world's finest hardware devices • Conceive, design, and bring into production products that will re-define user experience • Work closely with many different multi-functional teams, including Industrial Design, Packaging, Safety,Hardware Engineering, EMC, and Marketing

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field of study. (degree in phd in mechanical engineering)
  • At the end of the internship, you must return to school to continue your education or the internship must be the last requirement for you to graduate. (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • It’s helpful if you meet one or more of the following qualifications, but it isn’t a requirement (experience)
  • Product design experience (preferably consumer electronics) (experience)
  • Experience working with component modules (LCD assemblies, batteries, camera modules, etc.) and their interconnect (FPC design and ACF bonding) (experience)
  • Knowledge of materials science fundamentals for plastic, adhesive, metal, glass, ceramic, composite, and coating materials (experience)
  • Ability to use statistical tools and techniques (experience)
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis theory and general mechanical engineering analysis (experience)
  • Ability in plastic, metal, composite, and glass/ceramic part design (experience)
  • 3-D CAD skills (experience)
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing (experience)
  • Handheld, portable and/or hardware experience (experience)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the integration of wireless antenna (GSM, GPS, Wifi) into mechanical enclosures (experience)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the design of audio subsystems (microphone, speaker, receiver) (experience)
  • Proficiency in Unigraphics or Pro-engineer (experience)
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment (experience)
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative (experience)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills (experience)
  • Flexibility and adaptability (experience)
  • Ability to work on multiple requests/tests at the same time (experience)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
