Apple’s Product Safety Group seeks a high energy, poised, data driven, and detailed oriented engineer with background in electrical/electronics engineering, to support safety engineering design, testing, and continuous improvement strategies. Develop a deep understanding of our products and work with multi-functional teams to identify and address related safety requirements and resolve design challenges of new technologies Conduct Safety compliance testing, report writing, and acquire certifications - Using scientific methods, conduct design of experiments and failure analysis Own and drive the safety aspects of Apple products Develop an understanding of manufacturing processes to identify potential manufacturing defects that can lead to safety issues. Work with suppliers to ensure product safety is addressed and maintained during production. Conducting detailed failure analysis and documenting lessons learned for future implementations.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in EE or related field (degree in masters in ee or related field)
- 5+ years of engineering experience in consumer, medical, military, space product design, or reliability engineering experience with a deep knowledge of electronics design, safety, risk, and failure analysis. (experience, 5 years)
- Proficient in evaluating product safety, product safety testing, and compliance to at least two standards from the following list: IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950, 62368, 62133, 60529, 60601, and 60065 (experience)
- Use engineering fundamentals, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), and fault trees to analyze electric circuits, schematics, assemblies, and manufacturing processes. (experience)
- Interpret, evaluate, test, and write reports to product safety standards (experience)
- Strong EE fundamentals with demonstrated ability to to deep-dive into circuit-level design - analyzing schematics, layouts, power architectures - to evaluate safety margins and influencing low-voltage and high-voltage circuit designs. (experience)
- Present verbally and in writing complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences. (experience)
- Willingness and ability to travel 10% (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechatronics, and 5+ (degree in mechatronics)

- System Safety & design background with hands-on experience in safety certifications of complex products and performing risk analysis to eliminate safety risks (experience)
- Able to define and execute comprehensive test criteria and test plans on functional prototypes to validate circuit robustness, margin, and safety performance (experience)
- Solid understanding on test equipment, test procedures, and agency requirements from the above Safety Standards (experience)
- Interpret and negotiate requirements, apply knowledge to new situations, and implement new solutions with customer safety as the priority (experience)
- Expertise in leading several concurrent high-visibility multi-functional projects (experience)
- Ability to build and deliver presentations for executives with crisp data (experience)
Responsibilities

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review product designs, specifications, and materials to identify potential safety hazards.
- Develop and implement safety testing protocols and procedures for new and existing products
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations for design changes or improvements to ensure the safety of our products
- Conduct risk assessments and advice on safety-related decisions for product development and launch.
- Partner with external safety agencies and organizations to obtain necessary certifications and approvals for our products
- Train and educate members and stakeholders on product safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the safety performance of our products and make recommendations for improvements
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior management, to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of the product development process.
- Conduct thorough research and stay updated on all relevant safety regulations and standards to ensure product compliance.
- Work closely with product development teams to incorporate safety features and considerations into the design
- Review and approve product documentation, including user manuals and waring labels, to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
