As the System Experience team, we lead the charge in building this experience. Help us dramatically improve the experience of every iPhone, iPad, and Mac user who wants to manage digital wellbeing – adults, parents, teens, and children. Partner with an energetic, hard-working, fun team of engineers, cross-functional teams, and world-class designers to deliver the best system experiences on the planet. We’re the Screen Time team, and we exist to facilitate digital wellbeing whether you’re a parent caring for your child, a teen looking to establish healthy habits, or an adult trying to be more intentional about your boundaries. We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to help lead our team as it builds and ships the next generation of digital wellbeing features at Apple. At Apple, we’ve created the most compelling personal computing devices in human history. We want these devices to promote the overall wellbeing of our customers — especially children — by facilitating healthy experiences on their devices. Our challenge is to deliver an experience that is simple to use and understand even as our system’s features get more advanced. As a Senior Engineer on the Screen Time team, your responsibilities will include: - Setting and upholding high standards for code quality, unit testing, and engineering processes - Taking on the most complex technical challenges for the team and leading in output - Purposefully and intentionally investing in the growth of junior engineers The implications of succeeding in this role are huge — together, we have the agency to shape healthy habits for billions of people now and into the future.

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent skills and work experience (experience)
  • Track record of success — you have 5+ years of SwiftUI/Swift or UIKit/AppKit/Objective-C software engineering experience with impact to show for it (experience, 5 years)
  • Technical excellence – you design clear, maintainable abstractions with clear failure modes and write robust, performant, unit-tested code that delivers a great user experience (experience)
  • Critical thinking with influence — you systematically evaluate the tradeoffs associated with each potential solution, make an informed decision, and communicate well to influence others (experience)
