Job Description
Embedded within Apple’s Security Engineering & Architecture organization, the Secure Transports team’s mission is to deliver world-class cryptographic and secure protocols engineering. At the heart of an organization dedicated to building the most secure operating system in the world and putting it in the hands of millions of customers, the team is looking for a motivated software engineer to help push its technologies to the next level. You will join a team that provides the security foundations for data in motion across all of Apple’s innovative products, including Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, HomePod, and Vision Pro. You will contribute to the entire system, from the kernel up through libraries, frameworks, and applications. As an engineer, you will have the opportunity to majorly impact the design and implementation of Apple’s embedded and desktop operating system products, collaborating closely with all other security partners, ranging from our Silicon Engineering group to our Cloud Services group. Designing and developing software for hundreds of millions of users. People who LOVE the products you make. In this role you will: Help define the security properties and architecture for the next-generation operating system Design and implement new techniques to protect users' privacy during web browsing, email, and secure messaging sessions Investigate and implement the next evolution in secure protocols Work cooperatively with other parts of Apple on multi-functional technologies and initiatives to improve security Promote and drive the adoption of these technologies across the organization

Required Qualifications
- 5 years of professional software engineering experience (experience, 5 years)
- Experience in systems or OS development using C (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- A genuine passion for creating effective and pragmatic transport security (experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (degree in computer science or a related field)
- Experience with ASN1, X.509 certificate evaluation, TLS, or other secure protocols (experience)
- Strong understanding of recent developments and concerns with standard protocols such as TLS (experience)
- Industry exposure to and knowledge of OS security and applied cryptography (experience)
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Working multi-functionally with other software, hardware, marketing, and support teams to provide the best security solutions for Apple’s products. (experience)
