Job Description
This role focuses on designing and maintaining the secure infrastructure that powers Apple’s global security systems. You’ll help build large-scale compute and automation platforms that enable our teams to develop, test, and deploy security solutions quickly and reliably. As a Security Infrastructure Software Engineer, you will design and build the large-scale systems that power Apple’s internal security and privacy operations. You’ll work on pipelines, automation frameworks, and distributed services that support vulnerability detection, data processing, and secure workflows. This role combines software engineering and reliability engineering — you’ll be making our services performant, observable, and highly available while continually improving developer productivity and operational efficiency. You’ll collaborate across Apple and partner organizations to evolve infrastructure that underpins Apple’s security analysis and response capabilities.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience (5+ years). (experience, 5 years)
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Java. (experience)
- Experience designing and operating high-availability infrastructure or security systems. (experience)
- Experience building and operating distributed systems or cloud-native applications at scale. (experience)
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines. (experience)
- Strong coding skills producing maintainable, efficient, and testable software. (experience)
- Experience deploying and supporting production systems handling sensitive or critical workloads. (experience)
- Background in monitoring, observability, and incident response. (experience)
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation). (experience)
- Demonstrated collaboration and problem-solving skills in complex engineering environments. (experience)
- Requirement for on-call rotation, including weekends. (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or internal orchestration platforms). (experience)
- Deep understanding of observability pipelines, metrics, logs, and traces. (experience)
- Familiarity with data processing or streaming frameworks at scale. (experience)
- Experience building internal dashboards using React or JavaScript. (experience)
- Background in security automation, vulnerability management, or threat analysis systems. (experience)
- Strong scripting and tooling expertise for system orchestration and deployment automation. (experience)
- Understanding of networking, Linux internals, and system design fundamentals. (experience)
- Ability to automate operational workflows and optimize developer efficiency. (experience)
- Clear communication of complex technical topics across multi-disciplinary teams. (experience)

- Developing CI/CD integrations to streamline software delivery and compliance automation.
- Driving adoption of security-first engineering and reliability best practices.
- Debugging across layers — from network to application to data — to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Reducing operational overhead through automation, self-healing systems, and intelligent alerting.
