We're seeking a UX Engineering Manager to own the iCloud Mail, Calendar, and Contacts User Experiences team, someone who will be an influential force in shaping how millions of people communicate, organize, and connect every day. You'll manage a team that drives feature innovation for some of Apple's most crucial and frequently used experiences. Your engineers won't just translate designs—they'll collaborate as equal partners with Design and Product teams to envision, prototype, and build communication and productivity experiences that push the boundaries of what's possible. Join us in reimagining how people run their digital lives, where your key vision will directly influence how users stay connected and organized across the Apple ecosystem. In this role, you'll lead engineers who are product innovators first—identifying user struggles in email management, calendar workflows, and contact organization, then proposing and building solutions that directly impact product roadmaps. Your team will build new interaction paradigms for leading information overload, improving cross-platform synchronization, and enabling magnificent collaboration while ensuring experiences feel native and performant across iOS, macOS, and web platforms. You'll bring engineering perspective to early-stage discussions about the future of personal information management, influence feature prioritization based on technical possibilities, and drive innovation initiatives that span multiple product cycles. A key aspect of this position is encouraging a culture where engineers actively contribute to the product's strategy while building solutions that handle the scale and reliability requirements of serving hundreds of millions of users worldwide. This role requires someone who can balance leadership application thinking with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring that Apple's messaging and productivity suite continues to set the standard for intuitive, powerful personal information management across all platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a consistent track record of driving product innovation in consumer-facing applications (experience, 8 years)
  • 5+ years of validated engineering management experience leading teams that actively shape feature strategy for messaging or efficiency tools (experience, 5 years)
  • Deep expertise in both web technologies (React, TypeScript, modern CSS) and native client development (iOS/macOS, Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit) (experience)
  • Experience building scalable, reliable systems that handle large volumes of user data and real-time synchronization (experience)
  • Shown experience as a key partner in feature development, influencing roadmaps for messaging or workflow applications. (experience)
  • Strong product intuition with understanding of email, calendar, and contact management user workflows (experience)
  • Experience collaborating closely with Design and Product teams as an equal voice in strategic discussions (experience)
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence solution direction through technical expertise (experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a consistent track record of driving product innovation in consumer-facing applications (experience, 10 years)
  • Track record of leading innovation projects for email, calendar, contacts, or related communication/efficiency tools (experience)
  • Experience with email protocols (IMAP, SMTP, Exchange), calendar standards (CalDAV, CardDAV), and contact synchronization systems (experience)
  • Knowledge of data privacy, security, and encryption as applied to personal information management (experience)
  • Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG, VoiceOver) and inclusive design practices for organizational applications (experience)
  • Familiarity with user research methodologies specific to communication and productivity workflows (experience)
  • Experience with performance optimization for applications handling large datasets and real-time updates (experience)
  • Understanding of cross-platform synchronization challenges and solutions (experience)
  • History of mentoring engineers to become strategic product problem solvers in consumer applications (experience)
  • Experience presenting technical concepts and strategic recommendations to executive leadership (experience)
  • Background building products that serve hundreds of millions of users with high reliability and performance requirements (experience)
