Role Overview

The Assistant General Counsel & GPA, Mexico role at Nike offers a unique opportunity to provide legal leadership for Nike's LATAM operations. Reporting directly to the LATAM Legal Director, you will partner closely with Government and Public Affairs teams to shape regulatory strategy, manage government engagement, and handle issue management across the territory. Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Nike's LATAM business, delivering practical legal solutions that drive success.

• Lead legal support for distributor, wholesaler, and partner relationships, including sales, marketing, and route-to-market arrangements across LATAM.
• Advise on sales programs, incentives, promotions, pricing structures, and commercial terms affecting consumers and partners.
• Negotiate and support sales, distribution, and commercialization agreements, handling amendments, renewals, terminations, and dispute resolution.
• Develop and implement legal policies, standards, templates, and negotiation playbooks to ensure consistency and risk mitigation.
• Deliver legal training programs to business teams, enhancing outcomes, managing risks, and promoting best practices territory-wide.
• Drive process improvements, including adoption of new legal technologies and self-service solutions for efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

Nike seeks a high-caliber legal professional with proven expertise in LATAM markets. Key qualifications include:

• Juris Doctor degree or international equivalent; must be licensed to practice law in Mexico.
• 10–15 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department; multinational experience strongly preferred.
• Substantive experience advising on commercial, consumer, advertising, and competition law matters related to sales, distribution, and marketing of consumer goods in Latin America, including distributor and partner agreements.
• Demonstrated track record in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing strategic transactions.
• Experience supporting regulatory matters, government engagement, or public-sector stakeholder management in partnership with Government and Public Affairs.
• Plus: Experience in sports marketing, labor law, corporate governance, or digital commerce.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written); Portuguese is a plus.
