As Associate Director, Incentive Compensation at Gilead Sciences in Foster City, California, you will lead the design, administration, and optimization of incentive compensation (IC) programs for sales teams. This high-impact role requires managing complex projects that align sales performance with Gilead's objectives in HIV therapies, oncology, and inflammatory diseases. You will deliver thought leadership, ensure data-driven decisions, and collaborate across functions to motivate field sales and drive revenue growth. In this role, you will own the full end-to-end incentive compensation process for one or more sales teams. Responsibilities include IC plan design tailored to unique market dynamics, goal setting, administration, reporting, communication, awards, and governance. You will provide subject matter expertise, backing recommendations with simulations, thorough analysis, and clear presentations. Achieve equitable quota methodologies, monitor plan health, and ensure data integrity using tools like Xponent, DDD, SP, and Claims data.
Collaborate with Data Strategy & Governance, Sales Analytics, Sales Operations, IT, and Integrated Insights. Manage external vendors for high-quality deliverables within budget. Deliver advanced sales performance insights, conduct health checks, and innovate solutions for challenges like unique territories or disruptions. Align with diverse stakeholders including forecasting, finance, marketing, sales leaders, legal, HR, and more. Coordinate with senior management for resources and maintain program budgets while communicating insights confidently.
Basic qualifications include 10+ years of experience with a BS/BA or 8+ years with an MS/MA or MBA. Preferred candidates bring 10+ years in sales compensation, sales/marketing analysis, statistical analysis, or financial forecasting, ideally in pharmaceuticals or biotech. A Bachelor's in business administration, economics, finance, or related fields is highly valued.
Essential skills encompass strong analytical abilities and storytelling with data, business acumen, and excellent communication to gain consensus in a matrix environment. Demonstrated success in pulling insights from varied sources to drive strategic actions is critical. Experience with IC systems, processes, and cross-functional partnerships sets top candidates apart.
