Role Overview

As Associate Director – Medical Information Lead in Tokyo, Japan, you will spearhead the Japan Medical Information (MI) service. This pivotal role ensures seamless operations, compliance, and team excellence in a global environment. You will influence cross-functionally without authority, co-managing the local MI team alongside the International MI Region Lead. Key Responsibilities

Your leadership will drive the MI function's success:

  • Oversee overall performance of the Japan MI department and team.
  • Ensure accurate, consistent, compliant, and timely responses to unsolicited medical information requests.
  • Identify, report, and record adverse events and product complaints per procedural standards.
  • Collaborate with Japan Country Medical Director, TA leads, and cross-functional partners like Global Patient Safety, Regulatory Affairs, and Medical Affairs.
  • Develop plans for department structure, resources, and workload adaptation.
  • Act as primary contact for regulatory inspections and internal audits.
  • Analyze metrics to identify trends and inform senior management.

Cross-Functional Influence

Represent Global Medical Information (GMI) in enterprise initiatives, ensuring consistent MI practices across Gilead. Work with MI content leads to tailor response documents for the Japan market, meeting regulatory expectations.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel, you need:

  • A Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical/Life Sciences degree or advanced equivalent.
  • Typically 6+ years in relevant pharmaceutical roles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with proven country-level leadership.

  • Strong project management, analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
