The Associate Director, International Tax at Sonoco oversees US international income tax compliance for 100+ entities, including the US Consolidated Income Tax return, international tax provision, tax savings initiatives, and global transfer pricing. This senior role demands deep expertise in multinational tax matters, leadership of a team of 6, and collaboration across departments. Based at our Hartsville, SC headquarters (hybrid/remote options available; Charlotte, NC considered), enjoy proximity to Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and more.
Lead all US international tax compliance and planning efforts. Maintain technical knowledge for tax provisions and returns. Oversee staff development and manage projects like M&A, reorganizations, and Pillar 2 filings. Model tax law changes, direct transfer pricing with advisors, partner on cash repatriation, handle audits, and optimize tax technology with tools like Oracle and Corptax. Provide division support on international tax impacts.
Bachelor's in Accounting and CPA required (advanced taxation degree ideal). 10+ years in international tax, including audits and projects in corporate or public accounting. Expertise in multinational tax provisions, project management, and communication. Experience leading teams and using Oracle, OneStream, Corptax preferred. Strong analytical skills and collaborative mindset essential.
