Job Description

Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted.  No relocation is offered.

Join AT&T and help shape the future of communications and technology that connect the world. We value innovators who seek to explore the unknown and challenge the status quo. Bring your bold ideas and fearless spirit to redefine connectivity and transform how people share stories and experiences. At AT&T, you won’t just imagine the future—you’ll build it.

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions that align with business and technical objectives, while providing technical leadership and facilitating crucial design decisions in collaboration with Enterprise Architects and System Engineers.

What You'll Do:

  • Specify the Components and Their Interactions: Define high-level solutions with customers, stakeholders, and development teams. Determine primary components and subsystems, analyzing technical trade-offs. Identify interfaces and collaborations, defining higher-level functional and non-functional requirements (NFRs).
  • Define a Shared Technical and Architectural Vision: Create a unified technical and architectural vision for the entire solution, ensuring alignment rather than focusing on specific components.
  • Align Architectural Direction: Collaborate with portfolio stakeholders, customers, Enterprise Architects, System Engineers, and development teams to align the architectural direction.
  • Establish Implementation Strategy and Technical Foundation: Develop an incremental implementation strategy and technical foundation for the architectural runway, preserving architectural flexibility through abstraction and generalization.
  • Ensure Common Practices and Reuse: Promote the use of common technology, design practices, and infrastructure where applicable. Facilitate the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns, influencing common modeling, design, and coding practices.
  • Provide 24x7 Tier 3/4 troubleshooting expertise for all network event escalations (Executive, Enterprise Customer, Product Management, Service Management, Tier 2, and Account Teams Escalations). Quickly troubleshooting complex IP/MPLS network problems is a fundamental requirement, requires in-depth knowledge of IP and MPLS protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS); strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills; and the ability to represent the LCM organization on resolution and remediation issues to senior executives.
  • Contribute high-level, strategic solutions with significant positive impact to the Operations organization. Must be a technical leader and hands-on technology expert and able to work with all the organizations responsible for developing, building, and managing the IP/MPLS network. Must be able to communicate highly technical information to Technology Operations and Customer Support organizations.

What You'll Bring:

  • Master's degree (MS/MA) desired in Computer Science, Engineering, Information technology, or related fields
  • 7+ years of related experience with large scale TCP/IP networks and overlay/underlay networking technologies. (e.g., DMVPN/IPSec, SD-WAN, BGP, EIGRP, GRE/IPIP tunnels, VRF’s)
  • Hands-on experience with networking configurations and large-scale migration projects.
  • Certification is required in some areas (CCNP or higher preferred)

Our Principal Solution Architecture, earn between $158,200 - $237,400. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.

Joining our team comes with amazing perks and benefits:

  • Tuition reimbursement program
  • Paid Time Off and Holidays (based on date of hire, at least 23 days of vacation each year and 9 company-designated holidays)

  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
  • Extensive employee wellness programs
  • Employee discounts up to 50% off on eligible AT&T mobility plans and accessories, AT&T internet (and fiber where available) and AT&T phone
