Job Description
AutoZone's Category Manager develops and implements a buying philosophy, a pricing philosophy and a marketing strategy, develops and maintains vendor relationships, and manages all aspects of their categories.
Responsibilities
- Participates in all team activities and decisions .
- Selects quality vendors . Negotiates programs .
- Analyzes market research and to effectively put the right products in the right stores at the right prices .
- Uses information from sales, gross profit and various ad hoc reports to make sure their assigned categories meet established performance targets .
- Adds and deletes products in response to industry changes and customer demands.
- Tests new products and troubleshoots supply chain issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required .
- Five to seven years experience, preferably in a retail operations environment .
- Prior experience in merchandising, purchasing and manufacturing a plus. Strong financial acumen and communication skills .
- Strong retail foundation, vendor management and analytical skills
