As a Construction Defect Claims Manager, you will play a critical role in leading a team that handles high exposure Primary and Excess Construction Defect claims. This position reports to the Head of Construction, Environmental Pollution & Energy Claims with whom it is expected that you will collaborate relative to the group’s strategy on claim handling and best practices. You will manage a group of claims specialists with respect to technical claims handling, exceptional customer service, and business segment support, along with helping them to drive a performance culture of continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

· Oversee colleagues and claim processes related to liability, damages, coverage, exposure evaluation, reserving and resolution of claims in accordance with AXA XL’s Global Claims Handling Principles, service standards, and applicable regulations.

· Conduct and coordinate timely audits of third-party administrators (TPAs) and insureds claim files.

· Manage audits and ensure Financial Internal Controls (FIC) compliance across the team. Drive analytics and data development for Underwriting and Actuarial through identification and reporting on Casualty claim trends.

· Collaborate with Underwriting teams in connection with claim issues and trends, lessons learned, review of policy/endorsement language, and marketing and business development activities.

· Provide superior customer service to policyholders and brokers and ensuring the same high customer service standards are upheld by all colleagues.

· Partner with team members along with both internal and external counsel to manage litigation in an effective and cost-efficient manner.

· Identify strategic and tactical needs that can be solved through technology, process improvements, or training. Maintain close supervision of vendor management and expense control within the unit.

· Focusing on each team member’s performance, development and success.

· Strong technical background in Construction Defect claims: advanced experience with handling and/or supervising Construction Defect claims. Proven ability to negotiate and settle large and complex claim files.

· Proven leadership skills: Demonstrated experience in managing claims handlers. Proven ability to develop employee talent, manage performance, and maintain engagement.

· Possesses strong analytical skills and sound judgment. Takes initiative and has the ability to work independently.

· Dedication to customer service, including professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations.

· Strong communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.

· Ethical approach: Have an impeccable reputation for ethics, integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.

· Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 144,500-227,500.

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
