Job Title:                     GI Reserving Director

Span of Control:         

·       Has full responsibility over GI Reserving& Technical Studies (5 FTE),

                       

Key Responsibilities:

·       Ensure that all types of actuarial valuation, modelling and reporting work adhere to sound actuarial principles and practices, high standards of technical quality, as well as to the AXA framework (contained in the Group Standards Handbook and Professional Family Policy Manuals). 

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and validation of robust reserving methodologies to ensure accurate and compliant reserve estimates.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, finance, and risk teams to analyze data, monitor trends, and produce reliable reserve reports for management and regulators.
  • Lead and supervise the reserving team, driving continuous improvement of processes and ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity.

·       Provide leadership to all the functional units through capability building among other leading and managing activities.  These include:

o   Supporting together with HR and other actuarial teams the actuarial rotation program and the actuarial/-related education program.

o   Ensuring that adequate seniority is maintained in each of the teams for junior members to get guidance and coaching from.

o   Ensuring healthy influx and succession development in the teams.

o   Staff engagement activities.

·       Promote business partner behavior in each member of the team, e.g. delivering business-wise analysis and interpretation of results, supporting alignment of business unit activities to the company’s financial and business goals, promoting business knowledge in each team member.

·       Together with the CFO, ensure that capital positions at all times meet both minimum regulatory and internal required capital levels.

·       Reinforce capital and value management within the company through the appropriate analyses, recommendations and actions on such product elements as persistency, claims, expenses and commissions, premium scales, profit commissions, policy wording and benefit definitions, capital and reinsurance, asset allocation and investment returns, and the like.

Qualifications:

·       Fellow of the ASP (PH), CAS (US), IA (UK), or other full-member institute under the International Actuarial Association.

·       Has at least 10 years relevant work experience and within that, min 3 years direct experience in each covered function and min 3 years’ experience managing a technical team of 5 or more members.

·       Effective in communicating with senior management the bases as well as implications of actuarial and financial results.

·       Has working knowledge and experience in IFRS reserving and solvency framework.

·       Preferably (but not necessarily) an accredited signing Non-Life actuary of the Insurance Commission of the Philippines.
