Job Description

Job ID: 11970

Entity: AXA XL

Intern, Pricing

Wroclaw/Poland

Have you ever wondered who insures the insurance companies? What different elements the insurance policy consist of, and how it is assembled? Would you like to see the backstage of international insurance market? To get to know how to insure skyscrapers from terrorist attacks, endangered species or private art collections?

Our company is just the place to do all that!

AXA XL is one of the leading companies on the insurance and reinsurance market. We are currently looking for eager and passionate candidates to join our growing family!

After all, how risky can it be to join the insurance company?

What you’ll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

 • Developing Pricing processes, automation and visualization tools using a range of software (e.g. R, R Shiny, SQL, Power BI, Python)

• Providing support into the pricing process for new and renewed business

• Developing web data extraction and data mining tools

• Reading and interpreting information from various sources, such as submissions presented by

brokers and clients, and accurately entering all relevant data into databases

• Ensuring the data quality is up to the appropriate standard; all data to be processed accurately and

efficiently

• Ensuring relevant parties are kept informed of progression of the work undertaken

• Ensuring processes, procedures and Service Level Agreements are met and adhered to

You will report to Senior Pricing Manager.

What you will BRING

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Final year students (bachelor/master studies), preferably in a numerate subject like Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Accounting or Computer Science.
  •  Availability to work at least 30 hours weekly for one month.
  •  A detail oriented approach with a focus on accuracy coupled with an appreciation of the need for pragmatism in a commercial environment.
  •  Inquisitive mind with strong analytical skills. Often, data sources will not be obvious and will require self-initiative and subjective interpretation. It is therefore necessary to understand the overall intention of a particular project, in order to make sure data sources are not missed and captured data are relevant, comprehensive and consistent.
  •  Experience of using a number of data sources and data extraction techniques is a strong advantage, e.g. data mining, web scraping.
  •  MS Excel will be heavily used so a proven advanced knowledge of MS Excel and operating on large data sets is required. Experience with “R” or Python, statistical computing software, visualization tools, SQL and VBA (at least basic) would be a strong advantage.
  •  Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Additional European language is an advantage.
  •  Good organizational skills and time management.
  • Excellent people skills; successful collaboration and building relationships with stakeholders; communicative and open to new challenges. Must be happy to work as part of a team.

Our Pillars:

  • Valuing nature: How we impact nature affects how nature impacts us. Resilient ecosystems - the foundation of a sustainable planet and society – are essential to our future. We’re committed to protecting and restoring nature – from mangrove forests to the bees in our backyard – by increasing biodiversity awareness and inspiring clients and colleagues to put nature at the heart of their plans.
  • Addressing climate change: The effects of a changing climate are far-reaching and significant. Unpredictable weather, increasing temperatures, and rising sea levels cause both social inequalities and environmental disruption. We're building a net zero strategy, developing insurance products and services, and mobilizing to advance thought leadership and investment in societal-led solutions.

Incorporating ESG considerations into our internal processes and practices builds resilience from the roots of our business.
